In 1952

Paul Bradigan Sr. Starts Selling Gasoline

history_gulf2Paul Bradigan, Sr. started selling gasoline to farmers throughout Armstrong County. Gulf Oil Corporation furnished a skid tank and hand pump free to farmers. Bradigan’s sold that “Good Gulf” gasoline to the farmers. This business arrangement made Gulf Oil Corporation and Bradigan’s an unbeatable successful team. Bradigan’s grew steadily by expanding its Gulf Oil product lines that now include diesel fuel, home heating fuels, motor oils and lubricants. Bradigan’s has become the leading distributor of petroleum products in Armstrong County.

In 1975

The Bradigan Boys

history_lennoxPaul Bradigan, Sr.’s two sons entered the business. Tom Bradigan followed his father’s footsteps in the petroleum division of the company, providing prompt and courteous service to Bradigan’s customers. Over the years, Tom added the motor brands of CITGO, Marathon, and SUNOCO to the company’s line of quality petroleum products.

Paul Bradigan, Jr. established a heating and cooling division. Originally, a one-man operation providing oil-burner service to heating fuel customers, the HVAC division has grown to over ten highly skilled, factory-trained employees. Bradigan’s sells, installs and services all types of furnaces, air-conditioners, hot water boilers, hot water heaters and indoor air-quality products. Paul, Jr. continues to develop business relationships with companies that offer quality name brands like LENNOX, RUUD, and HONEYWELL.

In 1978

Bradigan’s Introduces KardGard

KardGard Refueling Club, a sub-division of the petroleum division, was established. The KardGard Refueling Club offers customers motor fuels on a 24/7 unattended basis. A KardGard Refueling Club membership access card can activate motor fuel dispensers at one of Bradigan’s six convenient locations:

In 1985

The transportation division is born

A third division of the company was established. The transportation division acquired PUC and ICC authorities that gave Bradigan’s the legal rights to haul bulk petroleum products for major oil companies like Gulf, EXXON, Marathon, Shell, and SUNOCO. Starting with just one tractor-trailer, this division has grown to over fourteen tractor-trailers. Bradigan’s has earned an excellent reputation in the petroleum transportation business as a company that is punctual and dependable.

In 1998

Bradigan’s purchases Foster Oil


Bradigan’s Incorporated acquired Foster Oil Company in Kittanning PA. The acquisition provided an expanded customer base in middle Armstrong County.

In 2000


Bradigan’s Incorporated acquired Dayton Oil Company in Dayton PA. The acquisition provided Bradigan’s with an expanded service area of northern Armstrong county, and southern Clarion and Clearfield counties.

In 2003

Andy Bradigan, Paul Jr’s son, joined the Bradigan team. Andy, a graduate in Business Administration from Clarion University and has since earned his MBA from IUP, has the intelligence, enthusiasm, and dedication it takes to provide excellent customer service. Andy knows that exceeding customer’s expectations is the secret to success.

In 2004


petrol_services_hamco_muleBradigan’s began offering home heating oil tank cleaning services. The HAMCO TANK CLEANING SYSTEM removes sludge and impurities. That means fewer furnace repairs and breakdowns. Tank Cleaning services extend tank life and lowers heating bills.

In 2007


Bradigan’s acquired Armstrong Chimney Sweep Company. Bradigan’s is a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep company. CSIA Certification is the hallmark of excellence in the chimney sweep service industry. This credential signifies knowledge of codes and practices important to providing the best service and staying ahead in an ever-changing industry.

In 2008


HVAC Bldg_2Bradigan’s Heating, Air Conditioning, and Chimney Sweep Divisions relocated to 503 South Water Street, Kittanning, PA. Their new headquarters provide a larger warehouse, a new tin shop, modern offices, a conference room, and a beautiful showroom that displays many of the HVAC and hearth style products that Bradigan’s offers. In 2011

Screen shot 2015-12-20 at 8.37.12 PMBradigan’s Incorporated expanded its Transportation Division with the acquisition of Spartan Transportation in Fayette county in Western Pennsylvania. The acquisition provided Bradigan’s with a larger footprint in Western Pennsylvania and better presence in Fayette and surrounding counties.

In 2013


Bradigan’s Incorporated acquired Kennedy Oil with expanded service areas in Zelienople, Elwood City, Cranberry Township, Fombell, and Harmony Pennsylvania. The completion of this transaction will allow Bradigan’s to maintain a consistent presence in Butler and surrounding areas by serving both Residential and Commercial customers with a wide portfolio of products, such as Heating Oil, On Road and Off-Road Diesel Fuel, and Dyed Kerosene.

In 2019


In the summer of 2019, Bradigan’s Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. was sold to Armstrong Comfort Solutions. While this part of the company was sold, Bradigan’s inc. was retained and proudly continues to serve the region with a full lineup of products and services that include home heating oil, fuel and lubricants, and Kardgard: Bradigan’s six unattended fuel stations located throughout the region. Bradigan’s is poised for growth in 2020 and plans to be in the area for many decades to come.

In 2022

On September 1, 2022, Paul Bradigan, Jr. officially retired as President and Owner of Bradigan’s Inc. after serving the family business for over 47 years. Paul Jr., and many others before and alongside him, laid the groundwork for success now and into the future. His son, Andy, who has been with Bradigan’s since 2003, follows in his father’s footsteps and now takes the reigns as Owner and President. As a family-owned and operated business, Bradigan’s continues to put the customer first and build strong relationships with stakeholders and the communities it serves.
